10 years ago Japan was seriously hit by the" Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. About 20.000 people died, mostly drowned and thousands missing. The tsunami also led to one of the worst nuclear disasters ever happened.
The painting is to remember how fragile we are against the forces of nature and the forces we created ourselves. It is inspired by the images on the news of the water and debris from the tsunami that was pulling back in to the ocean. AND the classic Japanese art of Katsushika Hokusai : The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
